A Letter to the Chamber

Dearest Chamber

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this honor.
(see Small Business Award)

I am so proud to be a member of a community that cares so deeply and works with joy. To be a second generation business in Toluca Lake is a dream come true.

Pergolina is a blank canvas to broaden the creative juices of our clients, not only with a diverse mixture of products, but with classes, language, art, floral design and makers. Art exhibits, charitable functions, awareness of other cultures. Children came and drew on the sidewalk and donated money to the children of Afghanistan. A Check for $5000 was sent to Easterseals for the awareness of Autism, the gross sales of an art show. We have had two client appreciation brunches, Pergolina believes is saying thank you.

Pergolina has never been just a cute gift shop, but a haven for the creative and bold, magical people of Toluca Lake. She greets her Toluca Lake family with the door wide open.

Sincerely,
Paulanna

Pergolina Receives Small Business Award

We were honored to receive the Small Business Award for our much beloved Pergolina. Paulanna Cuccinello, longtime owner of Pergolina was the deserved recipient of the award this year. Tim Hawkins and myself accepted the award on her behalf.

Besides former Marine Hawkins, who we thank for his service, the event was also attended by State Senators, Councilmembers and the business community of the San Fernando Valley.

Paulanna’s unique approach to art and unique gifts of character are a tradition. She has given our community a wonderful place to shop with her unique perspective that can be found only at Pergolina. Each week you will find something new.

Please remember that your Chamber/Homeowners membership app entitles you to a “discount!”

A Testimonial

A dear friend of mine, she is impossible to shop for, prompted a visit for my personal Pergolina challenge. What could I possibly find for her?

I explained the personal nuances of my friend and after about 30 seconds I was guided to some very fanciful gift possibilities. Paulanna made it fun and easy. She is like a gift therapist! She has exemplified what a true Tolucan is: Both as a homeowner and an entrepreneur, she is respected and admired by all who know her. In the end her staff wrapped up the presents, found a wonderfully appropriate card and I was on my way!

Congratulations my friend!
Much love,
Jon

Numbers matter to politicians and having an extremely large group of concerned constituents attend is critical to furthering our efforts to end these flight paths now.

City Attorney Feuer has committed his support to our community and clearly recognizes this devastating flight path is a significant problem, so please come and let him and his office know you appreciate his hard work. He visited Carpenter School and saw first-hand the endless low altitude fly-overs. He co-authored a letter to the FAA with the Mayor demanding answers to our current suffering. He also assigned a “point-person” on his legal team for this issue and retained nationally recognized aviation specialists as outside counsel.

We must also impress upon him we need his help, right now, because our community is currently suffering from significantly increased low altitude jet incursions over our homes and schools due to Burbank Airport’s OROSZ and SLAPP procedures.

City Attorney Feuer, and the City of LA, must continue to apply significant pressure on the FAA to act without delay and minimize the significant and devastating impacts of current departures while the Environmental Assessment is under way.

Thank you for your continued support!

The Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council Board Elections.

Please remember to vote for the GTLNC candidates who have a vested interest in Toluca Lake!! We need to be represented, and this means we turn out in support of what we want for the future of Toluca Lake. The rules for candidacy are very loose and this means that a board member may live and work miles away from Toluca Lake. For example if they go to Forman’s Grill occasionally, or get their hair cut at Shear Pleasure, they can vote. So have a say so in who is going to be elected to represent us.

This election is important as we have 28 candidates running for 14 seats.  This means it is conceivable that we experience 100% turnover on our GTLNC Board.  The GTLNC is lauded as one of the highest-performing and well-functioning Neighborhood Councils in Los Angeles (out of 97).  Let’s ensure we keep that momentum going!
