Like many of you, making Toluca Lake one of “LA’s Best Neighborhoods to Live In” is my primary goal as President. The GTLNC is an all volunteer organization working in connection with the city, dedicated to makingTolucaLakethe best that is can be. How do we do that? By bringing our collective resources and energy to the city and providing them with input on the future direction and development of our neighborhood and the Greater Toluca Lake Area.
We focus on Public Safety & Traffic concerns, Planning & Land Use matters and environmentally friendly ways to makeTolucaLakea great place to live a raise a family. Last year, the GTLNC’s Public Safety & Traffic Committee implemented the Neighborhood Watch Program, with 67+ street captains and growing. They helped to block the mandated higher speed limit alongRiverside Driveand secure the installation of a new traffic signal atTalofa Avenue, and are working to mitigate the commuter traffic flowing through our residential streets.
Our Planning & Land Use Committee reviewed various development projects and created the first ever Community Design Overlay ()CDO) for theRiverside Drivebusiness district. They rediscovered a forgottenCDOthat applies toLankershim Boulevard, and are working closely with the city to implement these important guidelines. TheseCDO’s are the blueprint for future developers to characterize the village atmosphere that makesTolucaLakespecial.
Our Environmental Affairs Committee completed the new planted median atMoorpark Way, completed the first phase of the Ledge Avenue Underpass Beautification Project, hosted the Annual Earth Day Bike Ride, and the volunteer neighborhood street cleanups.
The GTLNC Outreach and Elections Committee participated in many community events this last year including the well attended Pancake Breakfast, the Christmas Holiday Open House, Car Show. and help fund the YMCA “Youth In Government Program”.
MakingTolucaLakeone of “LA’s Best Neighborhoods to Live In” requires everyone’s support and involvement. Join a committee and become a part ofTolucaLake’s future.
